Precor Deploys ProductCenter Collaborative PDM, Migrating Years of 3D CAD Data in Record Time
Leading Exercise Equipment Manufacturer Selects ProductCenter for Its Mixed CAD InteroperabilityBURLINGTON, Mass., October 17, 2002 — Workgroup Technology Corporation (WTC) (NASDAQ: WKGP), a leading provider of collaborative product data management (PDM) software solutions, today announced that Precor Incorporated has purchased and implemented ProductCenter ™ 8.1. Precor, a leading manufacturer of home and commercial exercise equipment, switched to ProductCenter from another PDM solution, which inadequately limited vaulting and configuration control support to only Pro/Engineer® computer-aided design (CAD) data. ProductCenter was chosen for its ability to integrate with multiple CAD solutions, supporting a mixed-CAD environment at Precor that includes both Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks®.
"Like many companies, PDM interoperability is important to us," states Carol McDonald, Precor product support manager. "The true value of a PDM solution is its ability to manage multiple CAD solutions and various data types. It made no sense to implement multiple PDM solutions to individually support Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks. WTC offered strong solutions to both for a consistent integrated environment to manage all our product data."
McDonald was also impressed with how little time it took to deploy ProductCenter. "By experience we've learned to maintain very clean data bases, but it was impressive being able to migrate over seven years of Pro/E data to ProductCenter in just five days. This speaks to WTC's in-depth understanding of the 3D CAD environment, enabling us to deploy ProductCenter in short order, with no disruption to operations."
