Haydon Switch and Instrument Selects SofTech's ProductCenter to Automate ECO Processes

ProductCenter's Comprehensive PLM, Including ProductCenter Workflow and ProductCenter SolidWorks Integrator, Key to Its Selection

TEWKSBURY, Mass. — December 2, 2003 — SofTech, Inc. (OTCBB: SOFT), a leading provider of design-through-manufacturing productivity solutions, announced that Haydon Switch and Instrument, Inc. (HSI) has selected SofTech’s ProductCenter™ product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. ProductCenter will be used by HSI to replace paper-driven product data and engineering change order (ECO) processes and for more efficient management of the company’s SolidWorks-based product design data.

HSI is a recognized leader of custom designed linear actuators and switches for aerospace, medical equipment, instrumentation, industrial equipment, machinery automation, and other applications. ProductCenter met HSI’s need for a PLM system with its proven history of fast implementations, flexible workflow to adapt to HSI’s design process requirements, and ability to manage SolidWorks data through a best-in-class integration to the application. It also offered performance, scalability and a collaborative product lifecycle environment to support the company’s growing global operations throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

“We chose ProductCenter because it offered all the capabilities we needed out of the box, without heavy, costly customization,” states Gary Charlton, HSI Manager of Information Technology. “By streamlining engineering change processes, enhancing collaboration, and improving control of our SolidWorks product data, we expect significant reductions in design cycle times and cost with ProductCenter — which in turn, benefits our customers.”

ProductCenter™ Workflow will be used by HSI to automate engineering changes processes. Once under ProductCenter control, product data will also be accessible outside of engineering by production personnel, quality assurance, vendors, and other product team members through use of ProductCenter GenView™. GenView automates conversion of product data to commonly viewable file formats such as PDF. This provides easy, quick access to current product data by anyone involved in the product lifecycle process, without need of a more complex, costly CAD station or training in the application to view and use the data.

“As with SofTech, HSI’s success is built on a commitment to total customer satisfaction through quality, flexibility, ingenuity, dependability and value of its products,” states Jean Croteau, SofTech vice president of operations. “ProductCenter supports these ideals to help enhance HSI’s competitiveness in designing ingenious, cost competitive motor and switch products to meet worldwide demand. We’re pleased to be a part of Haydon’s on-going future success.”
