Autodesk Certifies SofTech’s ProductCenter PLM For Autodesk Inventor Release 8

SofTech Shares Long Standing Partnership with Autodesk to Provide Certified Integrations to Autodesk Mechanical Design Solutions

TEWKSBURY, Mass. — Mar 4, 2004 — SofTech, Inc. (OTCBB: SOFT), a leading provider of design-through-manufacturing productivity solutions, announced that its ProductCenter™ PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) solution has been certified by Autodesk for use with Autodesk Inventor Release 8. Certification is a measure of a product’s robustness and high level of interoperability with Autodesk Inventor software. SofTech has maintained Autodesk certification of its ProductCenter PLM solution since Autodesk Inventor 5 and continues to be one of the key participants in this program.

ProductCenter integrates closely with all of Autodesk’s mechanical design solutions to provide comprehensive PLM capability directly from within these applications. It centralizes and links Autodesk design and other related product data, while conveniently automating version/release control, design approval cycles, and bills of material from within the Autodesk user's familiar desktop environment. The result is an integrated CAD/PLM environment that accelerates and regulates design processes, improves design reuse, streamlines release to manufacturing, and improves supply chain collaboration for much faster product delivery and lower costs.

“For our mutual customers, certification means companies get a very closely knit PLM and CAD environment that implements readily and performs reliably from release to release,” states Jay Pappas, SofTech ProductCenter product manager. “Another important element is that in addition to fast, accurate management of Autodesk 2D mechanical design data, ProductCenter is especially adept at managing more comprehensive Inventor 3D models. It has been proven to help.”

In addition, for companies using Autodesk mechanical design solutions, SofTech offers a unique program called the No Sweat PLM™ Pilot program. The program relieves the anxiety of choosing the right PLM solution, providing a low risk way for companies to very easily, quickly evaluate, test-drive, and implement PLM in their own environment.

With this program, SofTech spends one week on site implementing a ProductCenter PLM pilot using the company’s own AutoCAD, Inventor, or Mechanical Desktop data. Because of ProductCenter’s exceptionally fast deployment, in just one week, a ProductCenter PLM pilot will be running with comprehensive PLM functionality that may include: direct integrations to Autodesk mechanical design solutions for vaulting and viewing product data from the CAD desktop; automated engineering change and engineering bills of material processes; and other enterprise collaboration operations. Also in the end, the results of the pilot are completely transferable to the company’s final PLM implementation, jumpstarting deployment and subsequent PLM productivity.
